I'm glad I found this site- some of my questions have already been answered! However I still have a few!
My husband and I are going to have a renewal ceremony a month shy of our 10th anniversary this summer. The Minister that married us will be involved in the ceremony, although we will be writing 'something' to say to each other. We are planning on 40 close friends and family.
1) My husband and I would like our 8 year old daughter and 5 year old son to be our 'attendants' - is this OK?
2) We are having a dessert reception following- is it OK to have a small wedding cake AND other types of desserts or should we stick to one or the other?
3) We will be traveling 2,500 miles back to our home town to have this- since we will already be on vacation, staying with family members- how do we 'end' the reception?
Thanks!!!

It is perfectly acceptable, and rather sweet, to have your children as attendants at your vow renewal ceremony.
You can have any desserts you like, including a weddig cake; sounds yummy!
I'm not sure about what you're asking in your third question though. Could you clarify this for me?

I guess I'm trying ts figure out how to leave the reception with our children since we are just going back to my husband's parents house and then on to a family dinner. Should we have wording on the invitation to the effect "reception to follow until 4pm" - so people know it's offically 'over'?
Thanks again!

Dear Quakerwife,
Typically, the end time is not printed. You could just end the reception by thanking everyone for coming and how much it meant to you. Usually people realize that this is the end. Of course when you start cleaning up, they really get the idea.

Yes! When I entertain I sometimes have to come out in my robe and slippers to het people going (like in that old Saturday Night Live skit!)...for us old folks that remember those!
Getting the kids into their coats and hats and waving from the car is another good indication the event has been completed! Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
