Hi, my husband and I are planning to renew our vows this summer. Our children will be 22, 18, and 15. Our oldest son is in college, planning to become a pastor after he graduates. Would it be okay for him to officiate? I was thinking of having him do that and our other two children stand with us and also to give a short reading.
Also, what are the past, present, and future candles?
Thank you!

I do not see any reason why your son could not officiate a vow renewal. There are no legal requirments for a vow renewal. A renewal is just what it says; a renewing of your comittment to each other. What better way to renew the comittment than have it officiated by your son who is studying to be a Pastor? God Bless and best wishes. Bob Deacon Bob Tousey

As a Wedding Officiant & Minister here in Seattle, I have worked with several relatives who have offiicated wedding ceremonies for family members. How wonderful that your son can do this with you! Congratulations! Annemarie Juhlian, Wedding Officiant & Minister

My father and stepmother want to renew their vows next year for their 25th. They have asked me to officiate because I have a more religious background. They believe I have to become an ordained minister to do this? Do I have to become ordained to officiate their renewed vows?
Any feedback would be helpful.
