     can grown son officiate?

Hi, my husband and I are planning to renew our vows this summer. Our children will be 22, 18, and 15. Our oldest son is in college, planning to become a pastor after he graduates. Would it be okay for him to officiate? I was thinking of having him do that and our other two children stand with us and also to give a short reading.

Also, what are the past, present, and future candles?

Thank you!

I do not see any reason why your son could not officiate a vow renewal. There are no legal requirments for a vow renewal. A renewal is just what it says; a renewing of your comittment to each other. What better way to renew the comittment than have it officiated by your son who is studying to be a Pastor? God Bless and best wishes. Bob

As a Wedding Officiant & Minister here in Seattle, I have worked with several relatives who have offiicated wedding ceremonies for family members. How wonderful that your son can do this with you! Congratulations!

My father and stepmother want to renew their vows next year for their 25th. They have asked me to officiate because I have a more religious background. They believe I have to become an ordained minister to do this? Do I have to become ordained to officiate their renewed vows?

Any feedback would be helpful.
