My husband and I are hoping to renew our vows since our wedding was last minute, do to many postponements while he was in the military. A lot of our family members weren't able to be there for our wedding. I'm hoping to do a renewal of vows with my family in late November, close to our original wedding date, or around the holidays when all my family gets together. Do we need a justice of the peace to perform the ceremony? Is it recommended to wear a wedding dress or can it be semi informal. What are some good ideas for a holiday time vow renewal? Please help :)

Dear Christy:
Since you are already married there is no need for a justice of the peace or any sort of religious officiant, nor is there any paperwork involved. However, if you wanted your service to have a religious flavor you can ask a member of the clergy to perform the ceremony; you just aren't required to do so. You can choose a friend or a family member to perform the ceremony or say a few words or simply exchnage the vows informally in front of your guests.
