     reception for vow renewal/wedding validation

My husband and I were married civilly 3 years ago. He has recently agrred to have our marraige validated through my church (I am Catholic and he is not). We are planning to do this on our 5th wedding anniversary. I always wanted a nice reception with a dance. So this is my question: Is it improper to have a dance reception following the ceremony? I'd also like to know the proper etiquette on a photographer as well. We missed out on these special things when we were married.

Thank you for your time and advice.

Dear Lost Wife,

The etiquette involved with a blessing of your marriage is the same as for the vow renewal. Please read more about vow renewal etiquette.

Yes, the dance and photographer is fine. It just wouldn't be a wedding reception with the traditional elements. It is more of an anniversary party.

Best wishes,
