     renew vows with a wedding

My husband and I got married because I was pregnant with our first child a little over 3 yrs ago. We just went to the JP, and didn't get a real wedding. Now we have 2 beautiful children and we are wanting to renew our vows in a church and have the wedding we never got to have. Is that ok?? I am just curious, I think that its my day its my decision but I was just wondering what other people thought about it. Thanks for the advice!!

Although, as you say, it is your day, you have come to an etiquette site to ask our experts about proper etiquette.

There have been many posts before answering this same question. Feel free to search the site and this particular forum category for these answers. The answer remains that once you are married you cannot be married again. Hosting a gift giving event such as a wedding will most likely be viewed negatively. You may, however, renew your wedding vows and/or have a blessing of your marrige in the church (check with your clergy member for advice and direction). Please review information regarding wedding vow renewal etiquette here.
