Asked to emcee uncle's second wedding?????

Hi there!

I have been asked to be the MC for my uncle's second wedding in June 2005. I've been to several weddings, but find it challenging to know what is to be expected at a reception of a second wedding. There are approx 75 guests invited and I would like to do a good job that will entertain everyone and have everyone amused and having fun. Do you have any suggestions for what I can do for my middle aged uncle (55 yrs old) and his new middle aged wife-to-be? (They have both been married and divorced).

Considering how OLD they are Wink, make sure there are plenty of FUN 60's and 70's music, possibly a disco theme, with some dance contests. Since they both have been married and divorced (which could have been an EXPENSIVE situation), you could possibly incorporate the "money dance", whereby guests pay to dance with the bride and groom. If they are a well to do couple, you could speak with the bride and groom and find out what their favorite charity is and could announce the "Money Dance" proceeds will be going to the bride and groom's favorite charity.

You might consider utilizing audio visual equipment, and create a power point presentation featuring a fun theme about how they met, using some current photos, animated screen savers themed around their hobbies or a humorous situation they shared. Part of the evening's activity could be what appears to be an "impromptu" roast of the couple, yet coordinated before hand with some helpful guests.

Be sure to thoroughly discuss with the bride and groom, so they have input and are not adversely surprised during the reception. Feel honored that you have been requested to perform this important function. and of course MAKE THEM PROUD!!!!
