We were planning on using my 13 year old son as the best man and the groom's 13 year old daughter as my maid of honor. We only wanted our children in the bridal party. We also each have 9 year old girls we were going to use as flowergirls. How does that sound?

Dear Babyblues,
The nine year olds are too old to be flower girls. It could be embarrassing for them. They could be jr. bridesmaids or could stand as attendants for either of you.

Your honor attendant should be someone deeply meaningful to you who can support you on such an important day - certainly your teenage daughter and his son fit that description. However, the generally accepted upper age limit for flower girls is 8 years old. I recommend that the younger girls play a different role - perhaps as junior bridesmaids? They will be just as important to your ceremony, but will be more appropriately matched with a wedding role suitable for their age.
