Giving Gifts for Wedding and Shower

My best friend's Mom is getting re-married and I have been invited to both the bridal shower and the wedding. Do I need to give gifts? How many? How do I know what? Help please.

Yes, both events are considered gift giving events. If attending you should bring a gift for the shower and the wedding. Find out if he couple is registered for gifts and order something within your budget off the registry. If they are not registered then talk it over with your friend. I'm sure she'll have some suggestions.
