     His Second, My First

I am getting married in September 2006. My fiance has been married before and has two kids and two step kids--the youngest is 16, othe oldest is 27! I get along great with all of them and they all seem very happy about the marriage. His first wedding was a civil ceremony and then they went to dinner. Nothing fancy. We are planning a larger, more traditional wedding; however, I'm very sensitive to the kids needs and the fact that it is his second marriage. My dress has a small train--nothing princess like. My question is, is it appropriate for me to wear a veil? Or should I stick with crystals? I'm trying to be appropriate for my age (42) and the situation, but it is my first (and ONLY) marriage. Thanks for your help!

Dear Sadie:

This is your first wedding so technically you can wear a veil, if you like. Please consider the style of your dress and the formality of your wedding to choose the veil. If your age is a consideration then choose a veil without a blusher veil (over the face). Ask the bridal shop owner where you bought your dress to suggest appropriate veil lengths and styles to coordinate.
