Informing bride's father of intent to marry for second marriage
My girlfriend was married before and in a real bad relationship. Although she was not married in a church or had a "true" wedding, she was legally married. Is it proper to inform her father of my intent given she was already married?

Whether or not your fiancee had a wedding in a church the first time around really doesn't affect the way the two of you plan your wedding. Notifying her father is a very nice gesture, though. I'm sure it will go a long way with her father. Just be sure you are not asking since asking insinuates that you will be interested in having his approval. That's fine if you're also willing to abide by his feelings should he deny permission.
My fiance sat down with my father and told him the good news (I was in my 40's) and my father was very impressed. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
