Private civil ceremony - ceremony at reception

my fiance and i are scheduled to get married on aug. 1st. it is a 2nd marriage for both of us. all the arrangements are made the ceremony and reception are to be held at our country club.

we just learned that due to an illness, my new in-laws to be will not be able to attend. it is really important to me and to them to share this day with them. i was hoping to have a civil ceremony with us, my sons and my fiance's parents and then do something on august 1st. i've read your other answers stating that it is not appropriate to have one wedding and than another. is there any type of ceremony / ritual we could do to share our day with the rest of our family and friends?
