     Second wedding to ex husband

My "ex" husband and I married when we were very young. We had 2 children and divorced shortly afterwards. During the four years that we were divorced he married another woman and that marriage is now terminated. We reconciled after months and months of talking through what caused our marriage to split up in the first place. We have both realized that we want to be together and raise our children together again. We didn't have a formal or traditional wedding when we got married. Only my mother and step father were in attendance. My father was very ill at the time and could not attend. I have so many questions regarding a second wedding, I am not even sure where to start.

Is it ok to have a traditional wedding with the dress, bridemaids, cake, flowers, reception, etc?

Since he was remarried once would our wedding be a renewal of vows or would we plan the ceremony just like we would if we were getting married the first time?

How should the invitations be worded since I chose to keep his last name?

This is just the beginning of my confusion so any help with these questions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.

Dear Second,

This is the first time you two are marrying each other 'again'. So, let's just think of it as such. It isn't a reaffirmation or renewal, because you two are not married.

You can have the traditional wedding because you two are not married. This is your wedding. Have it all.

You do not have to mention that you are marrying your first husband if you do not want to. Your friends and family will already know this. Don't worry about the same last names.

Your invitation could be something like:

The honour of your presence is requested

at the marriage of

Bride Smith

to

Mr. Groom Smith

Time

Date

Location

Best wishes,
