Should I have maid of honor for small second wedding

I am having a very small, intimate second wedding which is a second wedding for both bride and groom. Guests are close family and very close friends only. I wasn't planning on having bridesmaids, but would dearly love for my best friend to be maid/matron of honor. I am not sure what etiquette is if groom is not having a best man. Also, best friend is divorced, so would she be technically a maid or a matron of honor?

Dear Bride,

Yes, you could have your friend stand with you even if your groom stands alone.

She would be your Matron of Honor--no longer a maid.

Best wishes,
