The Bride and Groom requested no gifts be given, what should I do?

My boss and his fiance came to my wedding about a year ago and gave my husband and I a pretty substantial monetary gift. My boss is getting married now (second marriage for them both) and on the invitation they stated that the presence of their guests was gift enough, and not to bring any gifts. I want to respect their wishes, but I''m not sure what the appropriate thing to do is in this situation. Please help.

Dear Finally,

It wasn't proper to mention gifts on the invitation, but I love the sentiment.

It is best to honor their wishes. If you feel as if you need to give them something, perhaps a gift certificate to a nice restaurant would be appropriate. Don't spend too much or they may feel badly.

Best wishes,
