Wedding Reception after being married by Justic of the Peace

Due to personal reasons, we were married by the Justice of the Peace. I really would like to have a reception but because of our jobs we can not have the reception until next year. Should I continue to plan for the reception or just forget about it. We had agreed to take wedding pictures also. We are not planning to say our vows over just have the celebration with family and friends. Please help!!

Receptions really should be hosted as close to the wedding as possible but within one year.
