Wedding gift for Second Marriages

My Sister is getting married again. My wife says Emily Posts states that you do not give a gift for a second wedding. Is this showing good manners are just being cheap?

Dear Eldeblois,

Your wife is correct that it isn't necessary or obligatory. But, to be honest, most people do give some sort of gift if invited to the wedding. It is a choice and doesn't have to be expensive.
