this is my second wedding and his first. We are both over 30, and are paying for the wedding ourselves. My parents are not in a position to pay even if they wanted. I am having my 9 year old son escort me down the aisle. My mom feels that my parents don't have a special role in this wedding. I asked her what she did in my first wedding that she isn't doing in this one. She said the planning and things. I have asked her to help me in basically every aspect, but for my first wedding she planned it all while I was at work, and that wasn't really what I wanted. Is there anything special I can have my parents do at this wedding that would help them to feel more included? Thanks for your help.

Dear karibug -
Your mom could shop for wedding clothes with you and your son. She and your dad could help address and organize the wedding invitations. Ask them to help with any task as long as you feel comfortable releasing control. Decide which tasks you must do on your own and ask them to help with the rest.
