gift registry for a second wedding

I am the bride and this will be my second marriage, the first for the groom. The groom's family wants us to have a gift registry for his family and my family thinks that it is inappropriate being that it is my secong marriage. What is the proper ettiquette?

Ellen

Dear Ellen,

It is appropriate for you to register for all who wish to give you a gift. Guests who gave to your first wedding are not expected to give this time. But, many times they do and appreciate the guidance.
