proper waiting time for remarriage after divorce

Hi, This will be my 2nd marriage and his 3rd. We have been together a little over 2 years. He is still legally married and will be getting his divorce on September 19, 2005. He ask me to marry him not too long after we met. (We actually were talking about a year before we met). We would like to get marry this year. We have set a November 12, 2005. My question is this: Is that soon or is it okay to plan for the wedding?

Also, is it okay to start talking to our pastor about his views on marrying divorce couples? Thank you for your help. Secondbride2005

There is no real proper waiting time period for remarriage after divorce. It depends on the specific circumstances.

It is definitely not too late to speak to your pastor about your church's views on divorce and remarriage. Set up an appointment as soon as possible since, in some churches, like the Catholic church, you may need an annulment which can take from 1 to 2 years.

I would not set any specific date until after your meeting with your pastor and until you have the divorce papers in hand. Of course, you can do things like shop for dresses and locations but, I would not sign any contracts until you have the green light from the church and state.

Good Luck!
