role for teenage children in mother's second wedding
My fiancee and I disagree about the role for my two teenage children in our upcoming wedding. This is my second marraige and his first. We are having a fairly large, outdoor wedding with groomsmen and bridesmaids. I would like to ask my children if they would like to walk down the aisle with me. He thinks that would be awkward for the kids and the guests. I disagree. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I don't know if this would be awkward for your children since we don't know their ages and/or personalities. However, many children do escort their mom in a second wedding and having this role will sometimes help the kids feel connected and included. I can't imagine why the guests might feel uncomfortable. Perhaps there is something else going on here. You both should come to the conclusion that is best for everyone. I agree. This is quite common and proper. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
