Is it proper to have a bridal shower for your second marriage?

The purpose of the bridal shower is typically to help the new bride set up a home but, since presumably you have already done this the first time, we can assume that you already have all of that stuff (does a second time bride really NEED another toaster?), so then make the shower a party to simply honor the bride-to-be (which really SHOULD be the most important reason to have a shower, don't you think?) and to let her know that you support her new marriage.
A luncheon without gifts, a spa day or a fun night on the town are some good suggestions but if your friends and family really want to bring gifts then try a theme bridal shower such as a lingerie party or honeymoon registry (whereby your guests send a monetary gift in to a fund to help pay for your honeymoon trip).
