Do we have to pay for wedding guest's travel or hotel?

My family was wondering if we have to pay for out of town guests reservations when the wedding is not in our hometown? My parents live in one state, the bulk family in another state, and the bride (me) in a separate state. So we are confused with the etiquette rules on this and we could certainly use some help. How is that solved?

Dear Siedmondson,

This really is no different than anyone having to travel and stay for a wedding. Everyone is expected to pay for their own travel and lodging expenses. The only exception is for your attendants. You would be financially responsible for their lodging.

Best wishes,
