Alternating Champagne & Red BM Dresses

I'm getting married in February and have recently found the perfect bridesmaid separates for my party. They'll wear a full length narrow A-shaped skirt with a top that has cap sleeves and a V neckline.

We're using the theme, "Unfailing Love" for our wedding. So, I want to use red. Therefore, we're going with Claret dresses. However, I have 14 attendants (including bridesmaids and MOH). I'm concerned that the Claret will be overpowering with 14 women standing there in it. I want to incorporate the color Champagne into the bridesmaids dresses. So, I thought about alternating the bridesmaids' attire by having every other person wear all Claret while the others wore all Champagne. But, I'm concerned that it may look like a candy cane. The men are wearing black tuxedos with champagne vests and ties. My dress is ivory with gold in it. Does this sound like a bad idea? If so, do you have suggestions? I also like Blush Pink.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Yes, Claret could be a bit overpowering, and since you already have Champagne incorporated into groomsmen's attire, I would suggest you use Claret for MOH dress; Champagne for bridesmaids dresses, BUT: with accents in Claret color, such as maybe sash, or piping on the bottom of the skirt, or maybe jewelry, or you can use the Claret color for their shoes and purses, as well as bouquets. Be creative, and your wedding party will look very elegant. Enjoy the wedding!

I have to caution you here. 14 is quite a few attendants. You are financially responsible for your attendant's lodging if they must travel for your wedding. Plus, we only have this many attendants for the very formal wedding.

Also, the tuxedo is considered formal evening attire for weddings.

I love the ideas for the dresses!

Irina, I love the idea to use claret for the MOH and champagne w/ a sash for the bridesmaids. Thank you so much for your help in answering my question.

Rebecca, I'm aware of the lodging responsibilities. That's not a problem for us. We're also having a "very formal" evening wedding. So, the size and tuxedos aren't an issue.
