     Are Ivory Bridesmaid Dresses OK?

I was told by a very tasteful individual that they recently went to a wedding where all of the bridesmaids wore ivory dresses with colored sashes and shoes. She said that it was the prettiest wedding she has ever attended. Is this ever ok? My dress is ivory (it is my mother's wedding dress so it is an aged ivory color). If I did ivory bridesmaids dresses, I would probably go with a bright bouquet with my color theme simply consisting of bright bold colors. I may even have the bridesmaids all wearing different colored sashes. I also love the idea of sage green with ivory.

If you hate the idea of ivory, I would love to hear suggestions of other colors. I am getting married in early September. I can't do tiffany blue (one of my best friends is getting married a month before me and is using that as her main color.) I am really not a big fan of pink either, though would not be opposed to a brownish pink. I love sage green. I love brown. I like light purple. Not too excited about the whole pink/green combo- I think it is overdone. Thanks.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! It is NOT a good idea to put bridesmaids in the same color as the bride. You are the "star of the show" and should stand out, not "blend in". Your best bet would be to go for chocolate brown dresses with ivory sashes for the bridesmaids, which will coordinate nicely with your "aged ivory" dress. If you find the idea of rich brown color with ivory to be too much, you can replace brown with sage or powder blue, with the same ivory sashes. It will look very extremely elegant in photos. Consult with your florist to coordinate flowers after the bridal party dresses are selected, to make the finishing touches look stunning. Enjoy your wedding!

I couldn't agree more. It could appear as if it is a group wedding. It really isn't nice to confuse the guests. Wink
