My bridesmaids' dresses are a deep red with a white satin ribbon around the waist. They are satin with an organza overlay and are tea length, so the shoes will show. We are deciding between white shoes and silver shoes. I was told that white shoes are inappropriate because only the bride should wear white shoes, but I'm not sure if this is true. Could you let me know what the etiquette is for bridesmaids wearing white shoes?

I have to plead ignorant on this one. I've never heard that only the bride can wear white shoes...anyway, if someone confirms that it's okay for them to wear the white, I'd go with that instead of bringing in another color. Actually, I would recommend a red shoe, rather than a silver or white. But if white and silver are the only two you are considering, then I recommend silver. White shoes, even with your bridesmaids' dresses having a white organaza bow, will be in stark contrast to your bridesmaids' dresses. And, even with the silver, it has to be something that will complement the red dresses.
Cheers!

I couldn't agree more. I also agree that matching the dresses would be better.
There is no etiquette rule about not wearing white shoes. That is a new one to me :) Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I also have to agree on doing the red shoes to match the dress. However if you are trying to decide between the white or silver, I would recommend going with the silver.
