     Bride is becoming demanding!

I've been asked to be bridesmaid for a shotgun wedding in three weeks - at first she said wear whatever makes you feel beautiful and now its changed to "can you buy this $200 tacky dress" Its all very informal, in her home, no professional photographer and I have already been asked to throw a shower,...what should i do about the dress.

Thankyou

Dear Elizabethstar,

Let's deal with the shower issue first. This is an optional party that cannot be requested or demanded to be hosted. Family doesn't host either. So, it is good that her mother is not involved. But, only those invited to the wedding may attend. And, with this being a small affair, it wouldn't be proper. Not everyone should be invited to the shower. It would be like asking everyone to give two wedding gifts--a bit greedy.

Now on to the dress. If you want to wear it, then buy it. But, if this isn't what you agreed to in the beginning, don't. You could just tell her that you didn't agree to buying a dress.

Best wishes,
