Bride paying for bridesmaids dresses is the attendants gift.

Hello, I am getting married in August 2006, and I think I found a bridesmaid dress that I am very happy with. The cost is $184. I have five (possibly six) bridesmaids including MOH. I want to pay for about half of the dress for them as an attendant gift. Is this appropriate? How would I communicate this 'gift' to them? Thanks!

Dear Generous Bride,

This is very generous and sweet. I wish more people could and would do this. It is so expensive for attendants.

If possible, you could invite all of them to a central location and give them the news or send them a card with the news. Either is appropriate.

Bravo.

Best wishes,
