I am having a very informal wedding so I was thinking about having all my bridesmaids pick out their own dresses in a color I choose. I am thinking about black cocktail dresses with red rose bouquets, but is black too sad for weddings?
We see black and white weddings a lot so the color isn't really the issue. What could be a problem is allow them the choice of styles. I would select a few styles for them to choose from so that you're certain not to get a bridesmaid with over-the-top tastes. It would be so much easier for you if you were to select 4 or 5 styles ahead of time. You could ask the bridal salon owners to show you style selections suited to your bridesmaids body types and ages. Then make an appointment with the salons to show you only those styles. Each bridesmaid should be able to find at least one dress style to suit her figure. Then all you have to worry about is color.
