     Bridesmaid dress doesn't fit

Hi,

I'm at a point, where I'm not sure what I should be do now.

I'm a bridesmaid for my friends' wedding in Sept 2006. A few weeks ago, my friend gave me my bridesmaid dress. It just fits me as long as I do not sit down.

I've told my friend about this and she now wants to try altering this dress. Though I do not think it is possible to edit this dress other than shortening it. My friend has said that if it is not possible to alter the dress, then she thinks we can have one made when I visit her next month for the bridal shower. (My friend and I leave in two different cities and I'm only going to be visiting her for the day). She has said that their family friend can make the dress. (note: she cannot exchange the dress she gave me because she removed the tags before I'd even tried it on).

However, I think that it's a little too late to start making a bridesmaid dress a few weeks before the big day. I thought about offering to buy another dress but I'm not sure...

I really do not want to hurt my friends' feelings. but I'm not sure what to do anymore... I know that if I offer to buy another dress, she may feel bad about it. When she gave me my bridesmaid dress, she said that I did not have to worry about the cost; she'll pay for it. She said that she's happy that I'm part of her big day.

So my question is... do I offer my suggestion to buy another dress or just go with it and see if a bridesmaid can be made in time for the big day?

Thanks!

Dear Can't Sit Down,

You could offer and let her decide what she wants to do. Also, you may want to try special undergarments. I have tried these in the past and it is like losing 5-10 pounds. So, you may want to try this. It would be an easy fix.

Best wishes,
