Bridesmaid lost a lot of weight!

My bridesmaids ordered their dresses in spring-our wedding is at the end of November. We ordered them really early because the bridal shop told us that the color and/or style could be discontinued at any time and we should get our order in as soon as possible. We did and, in the meantime, one of the bridesmaids has lost about 20 lbs. The sales associate who helped her with the size told her that the 10 was a little too snug and that she should go one size up. My bridemaid told her that she had just had a baby and there was a good possibility that she will lose some weight but she still told her to get a size 12. Now, when she tried on the dress, it looks like not only would she have fit in the 10, but maybe an 8. I'm not saying it is the bridal shop's fault, they just suggest what they think is best, but their policy posted on the website is no exchanges or returns. I am assuming that if I talk to the shop, they will stick to their policy, and if so, do we try to alter the dress down a couple sizes and I help pay for them, or do we order another dress? I have heard if you alter a dress too much, that it just won't look that nice. Help!

The issue is that many ladies will say they think they'll lose weight (hey, I'm one of them!) and then, when they are not successful, there's no alteration for a size up.

Go back to the shop and ask to speak with the manager. Be as sweet as you have been here explaining the situation to us. Ask her what they can do to make this right. Refer to your contract too.
