I am getting married in 19 days. For the bridesmaids dresses, my matron of honor and I chose floor length strapless dresses. The dress shop said they could add straps for about fifty dollars. I gave all of the bridesmaids the choice of whether or not to have straps put on their dresses. They all individually went to try the dresses on and order them in their sizes and all of them decided they would not order the straps.
One of my bridesmaids called me this morning and said she took her dress for alterations and the woman doing them could not make the dress tight enough to stay up. She said every time she moved the top of the dress fell down.
Any suggestions to fix this as it is too late to exchange and order a different size? I told her she could get straps put on it or even suggested clear straps but she said that she did not want to look different than everybody else. I can not ask everybody to pay fifty dollars more for straps so that she does not feel different. What do i do?

I don't see why the seamstress cannot make this dress fit, with or without straps. Perhaps you should ask another seamstress to step in? Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
That's exactly what I was going to suggest - take it to a real professional! The seamstress doesn't seem to know what she's doing; the dress should be taken elsewhere for alterations! Surely there are other seamstresses in town! You still have enough time! Good luck and enjoy the wedding! Irina Feygin, IMpeccable iMage, Inc. Image and Beauty and For Princess Bride
