Cancelled Wedding - Who Pays for the Bridesmaid's dress?

I was a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding. Two months before the wedding (after I'd already ordered my dress), the bride cancelled the wedding. Who should cover the remaining payment on the bridesmaid dress: me or the bride?

Dear Xgirlofsummer,

It is your dress, so you would decide if you want to keep it and pay or leave it. It is the same as if the wedding took place. You are still responsible for the dress. It is unfortunate.

Best wishes,
