     Catholic Church/Bridesmaids/Time of Day

My dad will be getting married in July at noon in a large conservative Catholic Church. What is acceptable for the bridesmaids to wear as far as the style and length of the dress? Currently my dad wants them to wear strapless, low cut floor length gowns, and I feel that this would not be correct. Somewhere I read that weddings that early in the day would have the bridesmaids wearing tea length dresses.

Dear MOB,

The bridesmaids can wear any style dress your daughter picks. I am sure that no matter what style dress your daughter decides on will be appropriate for a Catholic Church. If they are strapless or you feel that they are too revealing, I would suggest that the bridesmaids where a cute shawl or bolero for the church.

As for what style the bridesmaids wear, it should really depend on what will look best on their body types. Strapless is a very popular cut this season and is very elegant. Strapless is great because the dresses usually come with detatchable straps, so if any of the girls are larger up top or feel uncomfortable, they can wear the straps.

Floor length and tea length are both stylish. If your daughters wedding is formal, I would recommend a floor length gown for the girls. A floor length dress is more formal than a calf or tea length dress. Have fun finding the dresses.

Good luck,
