Ok, I was trying to be a good bride and friend by asking the bridesmaids' input about the gowns. I didn't want to have to be the brunt of those bridal horror stories where they hated the dresses, but this is just getting ridiculous, so I think I am just going to bring my mother with me to help pick out the dresses. This ever happen to any of you? I think the best way to keep the peace is to pick it out for them and thats that!!
Also was wondering what style dress is great for many different sizes, my bridal party is a mixture of all different body shapes.

I applaud your need to please your bridesmaids since they will be paying for and wearing these dresses. Why not take your mom shopping, selecting 2 or 3 styles (you can select the color) for the ladies to then choose from. Consider each bridesmaids AGE as well as weight and body type. Also consider their financial situaltions. If you have a few maids who are struggling college students, be a thoughtful bride and TRY to select a less expensive gown. These ARE your friends and family and you seem to care about their feelings.
The A-line style (fitting only in the bust area) may be the best choise choice but if you are still uncertain then select the color and allow each bridemaid to choose a style in that color that is most flattering on her figure. This works well if the Maid of Honor is the one that will be different. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

Thank you for the advice. I agree with the financial thing, I asked all of my bridesmaids their budget and we agreed on anything under $200.
The only problem is, I went online to research the gowns and all the dresses I liked, I showed them. Every bridesmaid liked different ones, and one bridesmaid is trying to pressure me into getting this hideous gown that SHE likes, or other designs that are just completely incompatible with me as well as the other bridesmaids. I nicely told her that it wasn't my style, but I'd "consider it" even though I had something else in mind. I love her very much but she is too opinionated when it comes to this. Do you think it would be ok if I were just to ask my maid of honor and my mom if they agree on the dresses and leave the rest of the bridesmaids out of the decision?
I will take your advice on the A-line, it is a good idea because I have a total of 6 girls in my wedding party and they all range from 110-200 lbs. I am trying to accommodate them with gowns that will all be flattering, sexy, and not too matronly.
I was thinking of doing the different style in same color thing, but I am afraid of the outcome with that. Also, if two or more pick the same style and everyone else is going to be in all different gowns, I don't want any unnecessary quarrels or hard feelings to occur.
I picked a Victorian lilac color which is not too bright, dark, or light. It is a medium, neutral more cool lilac color that I feel looks great on different figures. So that is great, now I can narrow it down to A-line with that color! The wedding is in April, so I need to get it chosen soon!! :)
Thanks again! You've been very helpful!!

You know your bridesmaids best, and if you feel this is the best way to avoid trouble then take your mom and MOH along and select a style that you all feel will be most flattering on all of the girls, while keeping in mind the style and formality of your wedding. Along with the A-line type bridesmaids dress, try an empire waist too, which is flattering even for a pregnant bridesmaid!
Select your color by season (deeper colors for Fall and Winter) and by skintone and haircolor of your bridesmaids. Be sure to order at least four to six months in advance to ensure delivery and proper fit.
Remember that these gals are people you care about. You want them to look good and feel good too. They probably won't remember the dress (and neither will you) unless it came along with some unpleasant memories.
Happy Shopping! Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

Since you've already chosen a color (Victorian Lilac) why don't you allow your bridesmaids to choose any style, as long as the color & fabric are the same?
For instance, some formal gown retailers offer different styles that come in the same color(s). You could have 2 of your bridesmaids wear a halter dress, 1 could wear a strapless, and 3 could wear spaghetti dresses...all in the Victorian lilac color. My sister actually did this for her wedding, and let me tell you, all of her bridesmaids were certainly satisfied!
See below a photo of 3 girls all wearing red gowns. (As you can see, the middle one is wearing a dress of a different fabric, but this is so you can 'visualize' how it could look like)
