How long in advance to shop for bridesmaids dresses

Hello, How long before the wedding do you get the bridesmaids together for a dress decision/fitting?

I am a bride-to-be this year and i am losing some weight. Pirate

And I'm a bridesmaid in my sister-in-laws"to be" wedding in 2 years and i got an invite to try on bridesmaids dresses at the salon next week! I don't even have my girls dresses ordered yet and i have about a year. With my weight going down, am i expected to buy my dress for a wedding 2 yrs away?

Or should i keep the swiss cake rolls on my night stand?Wink

I sincerely hope this is just an invitation to get some ideas about the dresses, not to actually order them. It is way too early to order dresses for a wedding in two years.

Hopefully this bride is just excited about getting the visual of what the dresses will be and doesn't expect anyone to order at this point.

Two years is far too early to order a bridesmaids dress - in fact, it's too early to order a bridal gown. If you think about it, there are 8 fashion seasons left until the wedding - who knows what will be "IN" two years from now? 9 - 12 months is good lead time for most, non-couture, non-custom bridal gowns and 6 - 9 months is great for bridesmaids dresses. You can vary this a little - but not by a whole year.

Good luck!
