How much to hem bridesmaids dresses with train

I chose my bridesmaids dresses because of the small sweep train. One of my bridesmaids just e-mailed to say she had received her dress and it fit perfectly; just hit the floor with her shoes on. She wants to know how much she should get it hemmed. I always thought that dresses with trains were floor length and should hit the floor, but I don't want the bridesmaids tripping. Should I tell her to hem it and, if so, how much? Is there some rule about this?

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! First and foremost, you want to avoid any remote possibility of an accident, so let your bridesmaids hem their dresses to have 1/2 inch of the heel show. That would do it. Enjoy the wedding!
