     Informal Bridesmaid Dresses

My daughter is having an informal late morning wedding with luncheon reception in early April and is having trouble finding suitable bridesmaid attire. Her colors are midnight blue, white, and silver with some red accents (a sports-related choice to please the groom and totally non-negotiable). She and the groom are very much the un-fussy, clean line sort: minimal flowers, no lace, few bows, and absolutely NO "country" overtones. Her style and colors are better suited to an evening affair, but, for budget considerations, we have opted for a daytime event. Quite a few years ago, she saw an outfit featured in a bridal magazine with long skirts and dress-shirt-type tops that tied at the waist. Would something along those lines still be considered fashionable? Do you think a tea-length skirt would be preferable for the early hour? Any idea where we would go to put something like that together? Any other suggestions for styles to consider (and places to look for them!) would be most appreciated.

Congratulations on your daughter's wedding! Look for a midnight blue and similar color bridesmaids' outfits in the style that would work beautifully with the wedding style you describe, at J.Crew. You can "Google" J.Crew catalog and see the bridesmaids' dresses. Styles shown in a magazine a few years ago might not be available any more. Good luck and enjoy the wedding!
