My fiance and I decided to have only one close friend each stand up for us, along with our younger children as Jr bridesmaid & groomsmen. My MOH already had a black tea length bridesmaid dress from a wedding last year, so to ease her finances I agreed she could wear this dress in my wedding also. It is a formal evening wedding at 7pm, so I thought even with only one adult attendant each this would still be okay...is it?
But I think putting my Jr bridesmaid, my 8 year old daughter, in black also is a bit much for her age? I won't be able to get the styles to match. I have a five year old flower girl. My aunt and cousin, who happens to be the flower girls mom, insist I should the only one wearing white! So no white dress for the flower girl..Now I don't know how I should I dress the two younger girls? Could they each wear an accenting color instead of black? Perhaps pink or red, (the wedding is the weekend after Valentines Day) I can't make up my mind! Should their dresses match in style? color? Help!
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Here is an easy and beautiful solution for you: I assume you will have some red flowers incorporated into your wedding; do the girls' dresses in red to match the flowers! Now, imagine for a second just how beautiful it will all look in photos! (Make sure to include some white flowers into the girls bouquets to complete the perfect picture!) Enjoy the wedding! I agree that would look awesome. But, there really is no rule about the girls not wearing white anymore, as long as their dresses don't appear to be wedding dresses.
I love the idea of red though. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
Because the two girls are in differnet size categories, one in a 6X and the other a size 12/14, I am having a hard time finding dresses for them that are the same style. I love the red idea! Plus I might be able to snag some leftover Christmas dresses at a discount! I can't stand the cookie cutter stuff at Davids bridal etc. I want something a little different than what they offer. So will it look silly if the younger girls are in the same color but not the same dress? I am afraid it will look awkward.
