Mother of the bride chose red, can I use red for bridesmaid's dresses too?

I had originally picked red for my bridesmaids dresses for my june wedding and my mother has just bought a red dress also. I have not ordered my bridesmaid dresses yet. I was really hoping to use red for my girls. Can I still use red or do I have to pick another color? If I need a different color what color will look good with red??? I was thinking a light green but I don't want it to look like christmas.

Please help!!! Sarah

Dear Loves Red,

You have a very long time before your wedding and all of you may change your minds before you need to choose dresses. But, your mother needs to wait for you to choose your bridesmaids' dresses and then choose hers. If you want red, she needs to choose another color, unless you want all of the women to wear the same color. Their dresses would have to be very different though.

Best wishes,
