Short wedding gown - can the bridesmaids have long dresses?

Hi,

I know there have been many questions regarding the length of the bridesmaid's dress, and that it depends on the formality of the wedding. However, I'm considering wearing a short wedding dress at my somewhat formal wedding (it's pretty much as formal as a non-church wedding could get) because that's my personal favourite style, but I'm wondering whether my bridesmaids can still wear floor-length sheath dresses that are simple and elegant?

Thank you!

Dear Clairehoa,

Technically, no. But, if all of the dresses were in the same formality, it should be all right. It is very difficult to know without looking and feeling all of the dresses.

It really is your choice though. If you feel that all the dresses look good together and the formality isn't a mixed bag, it's a go.

Best wishes,
