Should the bridesmaids get to help pick out the dress?

My friend just called to say that she picked out the bridesmaids dresses and that other girls have already paid for theirs in full ,and that I need to pay for my dress so that they can all be ordered. The wedding is 11 months away and I never knew she was looking for bridesmaids dresses so early! I have no clue what the dress even looks like. It seems like if I am gonna have to pay for a dress I should at least get to HELP pick it out right? I thought all the bridal party goes together and stuff like that. What else am I going to be expected to pay for? Flowers? Jewelry? I am on a tight budget right now as well and didn't expect to have pay for a bridal dress at this moment. I feel pressure to hurry up and get the money because she says everyone has paid for theirs and they are waiting on me :( Oh- I also just found out that the dress is $150.00!!!! I know the bride has final say in what the bridesmaids wear to the wedding...but if she's not paying for the dress shouldn't we at least be consulted on what would flatter or bodies and a budget for us?? What do I need to tell her?Thank you.

When you agreed to be a bridesmaid, you took on the duty of wearing the dress the bride has chosen for her bridesmaids. If this is going to be an issue for you, please communicate that with her. She obviously is under the impression that you are a willing participant.

I agree. It may seem unfair to have to purchase a dress you know nothing about. But, this is typical for a bridesmaid.

Sorry.
