Hello, my soon to be husbands sister and mother bought the exact same dress from the same bridal shop as my Jr. Bridesmaid dress-- to wear on my soon to be husbands neice. (his sisters daughter). I only found out two days ago by default from the seamstress. We went to get my Jr. Bridesmaids dress altered and when she saw it she said she was confused because someone had another little girl in with the same dress for my wedding and she thought I only had 1 Jr. Bridesmaid (which I do!). When I looked at it sure enough it was the exact same dress bought from the same place-same color/material/style. His niece is not in the wedding, she will be a guest. They never said a word to us about it, never asked or even told anyone. Now I am trying to make my Jr. Bridesmaid dress different at the last minute! Do we say something to them, or just ignore it?????

Dear Soontobewed,
This is unfortunate and may appear as if the little girl was dropped at the last minute from being one of your attendants.
It may be best for your fiance to talk to his sister.
If she decides to have her daughter wear it anyway, there really is nothing you can do. Hopefully she won't allow it.

Thanks for the reply Rebecca,,,no his niece was never a part of the wedding from the beginning, she was never dropped from the wedding. She was a guest from the start. We were not sure if we should say something or not, maybe he can talk to her, not sure how that will go this close to the big day! Thanks Again

Yes, I understand she was always to be a guest. But, your guests may not if she is wearing the same dress as your Jr. Bridesmaid. So, this is an issue. It could be embarrassing for you and your future sister in law. Her daughter may be faced with embarrassing questions as well.
It is best for your fiance to speak to his sister. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now

Maybe they didn't know that the dresses are the same. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
