When to shop for MOH dresses

I've been asked to be the MOH in my good friend's wedding. I'm excited! Right now, she's just having the MOH and a Best Man stand in the wedding. However, the groom is thinking about adding another groomsman to stand too, where she'll add a bridesmaid to her side. She told me that the dress I wear is completely MY choice, with the only stipulation being that it be long (september garden wedding). Do I wait to see if there's a bridesmaid standing too, and try and co-ordinate something with her, or do I start browsing at the very large dress selections in this free-range wedding?

First let your friend know that the "sides" don't have to be even so if she wants a small wedding party with only a maid of honor she does not have to hunt down a bridesmaid.

I would wait until you're sure about where she's going with this dress idea. Many times I have seen brides say they will allow any dress but then when the dress actually gets selected the bride is sometimes unhappy with the choice. My suggestion would be to ask the bride to accompany you to shop for the dress and make the selection together.

I completely agree. So much can change.
