White or Ivory Dress for a first marriage.

Hi All,
I am getting married soon and my fiance chose an ivory dress instead of white. That raised few eyebrows. I trust her very much, but I am just confirming this (from a guy's point of view). Some family members say that she should have chosen white since it is her first marriage, where she claims it is a fashion, and white vs ivory is thing of the past.

Who is right in this manner? I know that someone will be unhappy regardless of which resolution.

Is it true that now that ivory and white are ok for first marriage?

your advice is greatly appreciated.

Your fiance is correct; ivory is a perfectly acceptable color for brides. This is nothing new. 25 years ago I wore an ivory gown which was acceptable even then.

I completely agree. White doesn't symbolize purity anymore. So, hopefully those whose eyebrows are raised will not judge her unjustly.

Brides are wearing all colors these days. Some plan their weddings (even first weddings) in black and white where she will wear black. Some wear red. There are no rules about color now.

Finally!
