I am thinking about having all of my bridesmaids in a black tea-length dresses. My mom and moh (sister) think that it is depressing to have black bridesmaids dresses. I wanted them because not all of my bridesmaids can afford expensive formal gowns and I want them to be able to wear the dresses again. But, they insist that the black dresses will not be nice enough. I want to use really nice blue/green hydrangas, and it will be a very nice wedding, but I think these dresses will be fine. Is this okay, or should I steer away from the black dresses and go for a blue or green to match the flowers and decorations?

Believe it or not, black bridesmaids' dresses are becoming more and more popular! You can add some "sparkle" to the dresses by using colorful or sparkly jewelry. Emphasize the earrings, to make the outfit look more cheerful. Enjoy! Irina Feygin - IMpeccable iMage, inc. http://www.image-and-beauty.com and For Princess Bride.com http://www.forprincessbride.com

I agree that black dresses are fine these days. In fact, even though mothers don't usually dress in the same color as the bridesmaids or each other, quite often when the bridesmaids are dressed in black so do the mothers.
And, the jewelry is fine as well as long as it is in the same formality as the wedding. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
