     bridesmaid's dresses don't fit

The bride has chosen a spaghetti strap, long A-line, empire waist dress for her 5 bridesmaids. Well, 4 of us are size 18 and up! When we showed up to be altered for the dresses, the bride said, I didn't think that you were all going to hang out of the dresses like you are! So, would it be inappropriate to change into something less revealing at the reception after all of the pictures have been taken. The dress is a done deal!!!!!!! The bride is a size 20W.

Have you consulted the bridal shop? They may be able to offer suggestions for coordinating wraps or jackets or even offer ideas for alterations that may make the dresses fit properly.

Please -- brides -- when selecting the bridesmaids dresses, have the women come to the shop with you, if possible, or, at the very least, consider their size and shape when making your selections. These ladies are your closest freinds and family members and you wouldn't want them to be uncomfortable or embarassed at your wedding.

Good suggestion and great advice for brides.

Ask the bride about changing your dress for the reception. It really is her choice. There is no etiquette law against it. It is more of a look of continuity the bride may want.
