I am in the process of looking for the colors for the bridesmaid dresses. My dress is rather simple, sating mermaid style gown with swarovski crystal beading on the top part of the dress. I wanted the bridesmaids to wear chocolate brown dresses with a pink sash or accent. Would those colors work with my gown?

Yes, your bridesmaids dresses will look very nice with your type of gown. You did not mention the color of your own dress, but their colors would work nicely with white, off-white, ivory, and diamond white.
