i dont think they can afford the dresses...

Hello,

What if my bridesmaids can't afford their dresses? I am in no position to purchase the dresses. My fiance and I have to pay for our own wedding and honeymoon. Are they expected to just drop out? Please help me. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Dear Footing the Bill,

There really isn't much you can do besides letting the ladies go if they cannot afford their dresses. It is a nice gesture for you to purchase them, but it isn't necessary.

Perhaps there is a less expensive way to do this. A seamstress may be able to sew the dresses. Another option is to host an informal wedding and allow your bridesmaids to wear inexpensive dresses.

Good luck with this Unsure

Typically when a woman is asked to be a part of a bridal party they understand that they will incur some expenses. However, someone's idea of inexpensive or affordable may not be another's idea.

Have you considered selecting less expensive dresses? Find a style you like and then try buying them on ebay or another online bridal shop. Sometimes local bridal shops have discount racks and department stores will have sales right after prom season. Depending on the time of year you're planning this wedding, you may be able to find some good deals. Shop around.

Save money on your wedding.

Good luck!
