wedding colors with varying shades of red

I'm getting married in June. The groom will be wearing black tux, gold vest and tie and white shirt. The flower girl is wearing a gold dress. The bell boy, and also ring bearer, his dad and my dad are wearing black tux, gold vest and tie and white shirt. The moms are wearing red dresses. The groomsmen are wearing black tux, white shirt, red tie and red vest. But if that doesn't work out we are going to have them wearing black tux, cranberry tie and vest and white shirt. The bridemaids are wearing burgundy dresses. The two maids of honor are wearing champagne dresses. I'm wearing ivory colored dress.

Does all of this seem right?

Dear Creammaldaboo,

That is a lot of colors! All of the men typically dress the same. But, little differences such as the ties and vests is fine. The ladies may be dressed a bit differently these days. Just make sure all of the colors blend well. All of your red tones should have more blue rather than yellow (burgundy, not tomato soup).

Best wishes,

So you think the burgundy will not go with the colors? I was looking for cranberry. What will the yellow and blue go with?

That isn't what I was saying. Sorry. I was just saying that the red tones you have in your theme right now will probably work. But, you will have to make sure all of them blend.

Some red tones, such as the burgundy, have purple (bluish) in it. Some reds have more yellow in them, such as tomato soup red. So be careful.

Cranberry may work too, but may be more difficult to match with the mother's dresses. That is something you would have to discern by comparing all of the colors you want.

Okay thank you. My ivory dress will go with all of these colors right?
