Can I ask to keep the flowergirl dresses if I pay for them?

I have a flower girl and junior bridesmaid (not related to each other) whose families do not wish to pay for the dresses their daughters will wear. Since I am hoping to have children in the future, would it be okay for me to ask to keep the dresses as a keepsake in case I have a daughter? They will most likely never wear them again anyway. Thanks for any advice you can give.

Dear Chance,

If you give the dresses to the children, the dresses are theirs. You could ask them if they wish to keep the dresses though.

Best wishes,
